Puppy Love

Remember as a kid when you had your first crushes on celebrities? They gave you that strange feeling that you couldn't quite figure out. That feeling that you wanted to kiss her and make her ... heaven forbid you say it .... make her your girlfriend. Well, after lunch with co-workers on team building day, I was inspired to list out my first 6 child-hood celeb crushes

Dana Plato
Aaahh yes, Different Strokes. I watched that show religiously and couldn't figure out why I would watch more intently when Kimberly was on the screen. Sure she became a drug addict and did some porn, but she will always be Kimberly to me.

I remember getting to watch The Bad News Bears and it was a big deal. There was swearing in the movie and any sexual reference I didn't quit get. I played little league soccer and distinctly remember thinking that I wish we had a girl as cute as Amanda on our team (we probably did but I just didn't realize it). To top it off, this hottie later went on to make Little Darlings. I remember getting so excited when she wore a bikini. Definitely a high point for a young guy my age to see a girl in a bikini.

Catherine Bach
I loved the Dukes of Hazzard as a kid. It had everything ... car chases, explosions, and of course, Daisy Duke. I now know why my old man would watch this show with us kids.

I never watched any of her other films as a kid except for a couple that for whatever strange reason at the time cemented my crush on her, Freaky Friday and Candleshoe. Little did I know that she'd develop into the super intelligent hottie she is today.

Kim Richards
Another one of those girls whose films I watched as a kid. She was always a cutie and even did some horrible 80's movies. But it was her roles in Escape To Witch Mountain and No Deposit, No Return that I'll always remember her for. She still looks great and little did I know that her nieces are none other than the Hilton twins.

Molly Ringwald
OK now, everyone thought she was the coolest. I still do. I still think she looks great as evidenced above. We all loved her in Sixteen Candles.

Now, sit down and tell the Devil whom you had crushes on!!!!

Oh Devil! That was a fun read. :)
I wanted to be Dana Plato when I was a kid. I thought she was so cool and cute. Now, I'm just glad I'm me! Isn't Dana Plato dead now, anyway?

Ok, here are my first celebrity crushes:

1. The Fonz, of course! My Kindergarten class picture has all of us kids on a giant jungle gym, and we're all flashing our thumbs up in honor of how f'ing cool the Fonz was! ha!

2. Leif Garrett (Oh yeah! In second grade I remember thinking: He's only 17, and I'm 8. It could actually work if he would just wait a few years! ha! Too bad he's a herione junkie now.)

3. Shawn Cassidy. (one of my first albums. I loved that stupid album and the poster that came inside of it!)

4. John Stamos when he first appeared on General Hospital. I think I was in 7th or 8th grade at the time, and he played a "bad boy" who wore a leather jacket... oooooo!

5. John Taylor of Duran Duran. I plastered my walls with over 20 posters of Duran Duran, and literally had dreams of John Taylor and all the gang. I had it bad!!! I recently went to see the band during their first reunion round of touring, and all those feelings came back. Pretty amazing!

6. I can't think of a childhood 6th. The next one I can think of would be maybe Hugh Grant or Matt Damon. I had mad crushes on both of them as an adult!

PS. I'm surprised you didn't mention anything about Charlie's Angels, Wonder Woman, or Chrissy from Three's company.

Nice post! My first celebrity crushes were:
1) George Michael but even at 6 years old my gaydar was working very well!
2) Will Smith: I was OBSESSED with him all the way through my teens
3) Michael J Fox - Totally feeling you on the Family Ties thing but obviously for other reasons ;-)
4) Johnny Depp - Gosh he was gorgeous when he first became famous
Too humgover to stretch my brain any further ;-)

Okay, here goes:
1. The girl who played "Judy" on Lost in Space. Every day after school the independent channel would show LIS reruns and I'd endure the show's overall cheesiness just to look at her.
2. Farrah Fawcett. My mom was pretty cool about letting me hang the Farrah poster on my bedroom wall, but she always jokingly threatened to cover the protruding nipple. (She was fully clothed)
3. Brooke Shields. Her Calvin ads were hot. Actually, they borded on child exploitation, but since I was also a child at the time, I don't feel guilty about this.
4. Phoebe Cates. 'Nuff said.
5. Jessica Alba. Jess is my middle-aged pervert crush. If I wasn't lazy and tech-illiterate I'd run a Jessica Alba web site. People say to me "She can't act." I don't care.

Modigli-
Well it's funny because Suzanne Somers nearly made the list but it was getting a bit long. I could never stand to watch Charlie's Angels, although I could watch Facts Of Life ... strange. Oh yeah ... Shawn Cassidy and Leif Garrett; we are so going back in time. Next thing you know you'll pull out the Bay City Rollers.

NML-
Nice list! The George Michaels thing is hilarious. Guys in school would always say "He's gay" because, of course, they were jealous that every girl was swooning over him.

Yourname-
Sweet list. Especially Phoebe Cates. I swear I still love Fast Times. And the Farrah Fawcett poster ruled. One my cousins had it up on his wall. My aunt went in and took a red crayon and covered up the nipple. Jessica is sweet in Sin City.
