Whatever Happened To

I liked this new station alot being that I was a child of the 80's. I still love to watch those VH1 music specials with the great 80's bands that you say, "Oh yeah ... I remember that song. I used to love those guys." Then you watch the special and see that the lead singer now lives with his mom and paints houses on the side; or the lead guitarist is a now a businessman living in El Segundo with his son who now plays in the band with his old man. I wanna see them catch up with someone who is "living with his old lady" and working at like Circle K graveyard shift still driving that 'Vette he bought after their single hit it big. Quit giving me the life affirming stories and give me the dirt damnit!!

To revisit some of these bands, be sure to check out the greatest new radio station in the world (on the internet that is...)

It is superriffic!! I get to hear all of those great 80's and early 90's bands that I loved like the Cure, the Stone Roses, the Ocean Blue, the Specials, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Erasure, Berlin, Bauhaus, and so many more I'm nearly wetting myself listening to it now. Right now it's the Cure's "10:15 Saturday Night" .... SUH-WEET!! And on another note, it looks like I'm ...... (see below)

What essential indie rock album are you?
brought to you by Quizilla

Please tell me what album you are. I figured with my luck I might come out with an album like Ruben Stoddard's "Things I Like To Eat" or Ashley Simpson's "Buy This Because My Sister Is Famous", but my luck held out for once!!

I am Belle & Sebastian's "If You're Feeling Sinister"....I have NO idea what that is!

I was Pavement's "Slanted and Enchanted." I wanted to be Slint's "Spiderland" because they're from my hometown. (Louisville, not Vegas)

Hey, I'm Modest Mouse - The Lonesome Crowded West too! That's cool. I think. I don't know who Modest Mouse is. I didn't even understand half the questions on that quiz. I think I'm old.

Hey yournamehere, I got Slint's "Spiderland" (we can trade if you want). I've never heard of them, but now I'll have to go look and listen.

I am also "I See a Darkness" by Bonnie Prince Billy. Perhaps I should check it out?

Lindsay-
Belle and Sebastian are a pretty decent band. Sorta mellowish almost in an indie Air Supply sorta way

YNH-
Sweet call. I did like Pavement's "Cut Your Hair" .. good tune. I'll have to admit, I've heard of Slint but haven't actually heard their music

Brooke-
YOu can go to Launch.com and check out some Modest Mouse videos. They had that song like last summer "Float On" or "Ocean Breathes Salty" that got quite a bit of airplay

Not really sure. I don't know Bonnie Prince Billy. It could be worth a listen!

Bonnie Prince Billy is a guy named Wil Oldham who also records music under the names "Palace" and "Palace Brothers." He's also from Louisville and in fact took the picture for the cover of the "Spiderland" album.
Will's a talented guy, but you have to overlook the fact that he comes from an affluent home in an upper middle-class section of Louisville but pretends to be a hillbilly when he sings.

Devil, sorry about that.

But A) you never asked me to trade my Twix and B) it's chocolate, which means it got eaten WAY before you ever got around to posting that comment, or even thinking about posting that comment.

It's amazing to me that people have become famous just for commentating on those VH1 shows. No one knows Hal Sparks from Queer as Folk, they know him as the guy that's always on VH1. That blonde chick with the glasses and that really doofy but funny guy with the big poufy dark hair? Who are they? Yapping on VH1 is their whole job. Ahhh, who am I kidding. I'm just jealous. That must be the greatest job in the world!!!

I just wish they'd get rid of that assclown, Donal Logue. I think he thinks if he keeps talking, he'll eventually say something funny. Hasn't happened yet.

Hmm, by the way, I'm Modest Mouse too. Aside from "Float On", I couldn't name ya one of their songs. I think of all the possible results, I would identify most closely with Wilco.

I think they use the term "essential" a little loosely! ;)

Beckeye-
We'll go on those VH1 shows and someday people will blog about how annoying we are. It will be a blogger's wildest dream!
