Interview Whore

Some of you may actually begin to wonder why I haven't been updating more. Well, it's actually because I have been interviewing like crazy these days. I have had like 6 interviews in the past 2 weeks. Of course, no one is giving me a job just yet ... but at least I am interviewing. It means that some people are seeing some value in me.

I do hate the interview process however. I feel like one of those prostitutes in Amsterdam. I kinda stand there being evaluated as to whether or not this prospective John feels like giving me the time of day. You stand there in your best suit, tell them what you think they want to hear, and then you pray that you're the one. Hopefully I won't be going through this much longer.

I've noticed that most of the job interviews I've went on with high profile employers are much more casual than mid-level or low profile clients. The high profile guys are desparately trying to portray themselves as just normal Joes. Yeah ... right ... normal fucking Joes whose Jag's grill costs more than my old Jeep. Normal Joes who drop a couple of hundred bucks every weekend to go to dinner while I'm stoked that Sonic is open past 9 PM.

I've even had a few of these high profile employers call me back to say I'm still in the job hunt only to never hear back or never receive return phone calls. They're just a bunch of teases ... bastards!!! Oh well, I'll just keep interviewing and keep going on interviews. There is always work to be had at Starbucks ... or I'd probably be overlyqualifed with my luck!!!

Good luck! I hate interviewing too, but I can't say I've ever had a high profile one! :)

I've never had a high profile interview, I can tell you that. If the person interviewing me isn't drunk, I feel lucky.

you could hook me up with free Frappaccinos if you were at Starbucks!? (and if you didn't like 12 hours away...)
I don't know what the deal is with them calling to tell you that you're still in it and then never call again... It's almost like they just want to fuck with your head or soemthing.

I HATE interviews. Especially BS questions like "Where do you see yourself in 5 years?" Uh, well sir, by that time I'll surely have won the lotto, so probably sailing around the world in my yacht thankyouverymuch. Another of my favorites, "What are your five weaknesses and failures?" Are you kidding me! Ugh, interviews.

Well, good luck with them...I know how much of a pain in the ass they are, but I know you'll be behind a desk in no time at all :)

Man! It's tough, isn't it? I'm surprised they haven't asked you to turn around so they can check out your ass, too! ha! :)

As for the Starbucks gig - I'll tell ya, that shit is HARD work! They seriously work your ass. I should know, I've been doing the Starbucks thing for the last month as a night gig, and I'm pooped. I seriously can't think strait between both jobs, but I think I'm at a really busy store. On the weekends, we consistently have lines out the doors for hours on end! Seriously, for like 4 or 5 hours strait!

Hang in there, Cincy! Someone's gonna see you for the great candidate you are and scoop you up! I'm sure it is interesting to experience the difference in each firm's approach and style, though. Remember, you're interviewing them, too! And I say call them back and pester them if they don't get back to you. :)

Thanks sexy! Any thoughts on taking that job here in Georgia?

Honestly, I swear some of these guys must be drunk to come up with the questions. I had to take a logic test for one job in person and another online. Yet another wants a handwriting sample!!

I agree; give me a job making $40K a year and I can wear shorts ... I'd be Employee of the Year

Good to hear from you!! Hopefully I'll be behind a desk wishing I had a job where I could be outside on nice days.

Any luck there in D.C.?

The Starbucks thing sounds stressful, but I'm sure it's a hell of alot more fun than a completely dead gift shop.

I'm glad to read you're doing well in S.D.. I am still jealous of your love life!!
